# Edit Pattern Points

Use point editing to refine the pattern directly in the preview. This tool is available in enabled workspaces; the available point types can differ between workspaces.

Open an editable project and exit Grading mode before editing points.

## Choose the points to edit

1. Select **Enable editing** in the preview toolbar. In fullscreen, you can also press **E**.
2. In the editing menu, choose **Turn points**, **Curvature points**, or both when available.
3. Select a point in the preview. Hold **Shift** when selecting to work with multiple points.

Turn points define corners and changes of direction. Curvature points control the shape of curved sections. At least one available point type must remain selected.

## Move points

Drag a selected point to adjust the geometry. Hold **Shift** to constrain dragging to an axis. Arrow keys move selected points by 1 mm. The movement panel opens when points are selected. Enter X/Y adjustments in the displayed units and click **Apply**.

Point movement can snap to other visible points. Review the updated contour after each adjustment. Where points are shared between pieces, moving one occurrence can update corresponding points on other pieces.

Moving a whole piece arranges the preview; moving its points changes pattern geometry. The [Measurement Chart](/manage-a-project/measurement-options.md#measurement-chart) includes manual geometry changes in its supported measurements.

## Change measurements after editing

On native pattern pieces, including sleeves, linings and accessories, saved point adjustments adapt proportionally when you change editable measurements. You can change more than one measurement before reviewing the result. Moving the point again updates the adjustment using its current position and construction.

Interfacing pieces follow adjustments to their source pieces and cannot be edited directly. If a proportional adjustment cannot adapt to a changed construction, its original saved movement is kept. Always review the contours after changing measurements or construction options; proportional adjustment does not guarantee the intended fit.

Saved adjustments remain available when you reopen the project. A [Pattern Template](/manage-a-project/pattern-templates.md) can also carry adjustments to original pattern points into a new project.

## Temporarily hide or apply adjustments

When the preview header shows a **custom** badge, click it to open **Custom Details**. Use **Apply custom edits** to switch the saved adjustments off or on when that control is available. Turning them off preserves the saved adjustments so you can compare with the unedited pattern.

## Reset point adjustments

Right-click a point or piece and choose **Reset point manual edits** or **Reset piece manual edits**, when available. Resetting shared points can also affect their occurrences on other pieces.

These actions remove point adjustments. **Reset piece position** changes the preview arrangement instead.

To reset manual editing, open the **custom** badge, choose **Reset edits**, and review and confirm **Reset all manual edits**. This removes point adjustments, added contour points, drawn internal lines, and pieces created through editing. Turning off **Apply custom edits** preserves point adjustments; resetting removes them.

Save a [Pattern Version](/manage-a-project/pattern-versions.md) before substantial changes when you need a lasting restore point.

## Finish editing

Choose **Disable editing**, or press **Escape** in fullscreen when no other interaction is active. Entering Grading mode closes editing mode; leaving grading does not automatically reopen it.

Review the pattern and its measurements before generating a new download.
